ts a pretty simple procedure to find the IP Address of your iPhone but you will need to do this anytime you want to SSH into your phone. Follow the instructions below to get started.

Step One
Press to select Settings from your SpringBoard

Step Two
Press to select Wi-Fi from the Settings menu.

Step Three
Press to select your network if it isn't already selected. Then next to your network name press the blue circle with the arrow in it.

Step Four
You will now be displayed your iPhone's IP Address!

How to Create Custom iPhone Ringtones Using GarageBand

With the latest release to GarageBand you can now create your own ringtones and export them directly into iTunes! These ringtones can then be easily synced to your iPhone.

Step One
If you have not updated your GarageBand then do so by selecting Software Update from the Apple menu at the top left of the screen. Alternatively you can download the GarageBand update directly from here: http://www.apple.com/support/downloads/ ... nd411.html.

Step Two
After you have installed the GarageBand update you can launch the program by clicking its icon in the dock.

Step Three
If prompted by an introductory screen, click Ok.

Step Four
Click to select Create New Music Project from the popup menu that appears. If this menu does not appear and you go straight into GarageBand then select New from the File menu to get this menu.

Step Five
A New Project dialog will appear. Enter the name of your ringtone into the Save As entryfield then click the Create button.

Step Six
GarageBand will now open with a default Grand Piano Track and a Digital Keyboard. Click the red circle at the top left of the keyboard to close it. Now select the Grand Piano track and select Delete Trackfrom the Track menu to remove it. You should now have a blank project to work with.

Step Seven
Open a new Finder window by selecting its icon in the dock. Navigate to the location of the song you would like to use as a ringtone. Drag this file into the GarageBand window. You will notice that a new track has been created for the song.

Step Eight
Click the Cycle Region button to the right of the Fast Forward button.

You will notice that a small region has been added across the top of your newly added track. A portion of this region is highlighted in orange. This is the cycle region and for our purposes is the region we use to define our ringtone.

Step Nine
Select Show Time in LCD from the Control Menu.

Notice the Timeline is now shown in minutes and seconds rather then in measures.

Step Ten
Take your mouse and create a cycle region which spans the section of the song you would like to use as your ringtone. Do this by dragging the mouse across the top of the song region you want to select. Once you have made a basic selection you can fine tune it by dragging the ends of the orange bar.

Step Eleven
Use the Zoom control to help you fine tune you selection.

If you want to be even more exact you can use the Track Editor to see the track in more detail.

Step Twelve
Use the Play button to preview your selection to make sure it sounds right.

Step Thirteen
We are now going to add two effects to the track. We do this to optimize the track for playback on the iPhone. You do not have to do this and could just skip to Step Sixteen. I would suggest applying these steps because with most tracks the iPhone distorts the sound terribly.

Now with the track still selected click the Track Info button.

At the bottom left hand corner of the Track Info window click the Details button.

Step Fourteen
Check the box next to the Compressor effect and then select a compressor type. I selected Vocal Compression Basic. You could select whichever you think works best.

You may get prompted to confirm the change. If so, click the Continue button.

Step Fifteen
From the dropdown menu below Compressor select AUHipass.

Click the Pencil Button at the right to bring up the Manual Settings dialog. Enter a cutoff frequency of around 150. You can play around with this setting; however, 150 seems to take care of the bass distortion on my iPhone. Click the red circle at the top left of the popup window to close it.

Step Sixteen
Listen to the track again to make sure it sounds good. Click Send Ringtone to iTunes from the Share menu.

Step Seventeen
The ringtone will export to iTunes and will be added to your ringtone list.

Step Eighteen
Connect your iPhone to the computer and select it from the list of devices on the left.

Step Nineteen
Select the Ringtone tab and make sure your ringtone is selected for synchronization. You can then click the Sync button.

Your ringtone will now appear on your iPhone's Ringtone list!

How to use your iPhone to check weather conditions

These are instructions on how to use your iPhone to check weather conditions. This is a basic tutorial but for those of you just setting up your iPhone it may help.

Step One
Press to select the Weather icon from your iPhone SpringBoard.

Step Two
If this is the first time you are setting up your Weather application then it will default to Cupertino. Press the small i button at the bottom right of the screen.

Step Three
You will now be presented with a list of the cities for which you can check weather.

Step Four
To delete a city (ie Cupertino) press the red "Do Not Enter" button at the left side of the city name. ADelete button will then appear. Press it to remove the city from your list.

Step Five
To add a city press the + button at the top left hand corner of the screen.

The Add Location window will appear. Type in the name of your city then press the Search button.

Now a list of possible results will appear. Press to select the correct location.

Notice the city now appears in your list of Weather Locations. You can continue to add more cities if you like.

Step Six
You can drag the handles at the right of each location to order the cities in your list. At the bottom of your weather list you can choose between Celsius and Fahrenheit using the two large buttons. Then press the Done button at the top right to finish your changes.

Step Seven
You will now be taken to the weather conditions for your chosen city! You can swipe to move between cities on your list.

How to create an iPhone Applications Bundle using iBuilder.

These are instructions on how to create an iPhone Applications Bundle using iBuilder. This app lets you bundle multiple applications together for easy quick installation on your iPhone.

Currently you will need to run iBuilder on a Windows machine and then copy the created bundle over to PwnageTool (Mac) for use.

Step One
Download iBuilder from here to your desktop.

Step Two
Extract the downloaded zip (iBundle1.02b.zip) to your desktop.

Step Three
Double click iPhoneBundleBuilder.exe from the extracted folder (iBundle1.02b).

Step Four
iBuilder will launch and display a list of sources and packages

Step Five
To add a source enter its url into the entryfield then click the Add Source button.

Step Six
Notice the new source is added to the Sources listbox.

Step Seven
Double click a package to add it to the User Packages listbox. Once you have added all the packages you desire, click the Build! button.

Step Eight
When your custom bundle has been built it will be saved to the Desktop in a folder called iBuilder.bundle. Click the OK button.

MAC USERS
To use this bundle you must transfer it to your Mac. Hold down the CTRL key and click the PwnageTool icon. Click Show Package Contents from the popup menu.

Now navigate to Contents > Resources > InternalPackages and copy the iBuilder.bundle into it.

You can now follow this tutorial to not only add custom logos to your firmware but also include the iBuilder.bundle

Dictionary of iPhone terms.

Here is a dictionary of iPhone terms to help you understand the words commonly used in the iPhone community. We will be adding terms regularly. If you would like to see a term added please request it in the comments!

Activation
When you first purchase your iPhone all you can do is call 911 until you activate with AT&T (or similar). If you are using an official Apple carrier carrier then you can activate through iTunes; otherwise you will have to perform a hack to activate your iPhone. Once activated it becomes an iPod touch with camera and bluetooth at which point you will want to proceed to jailbreak and possibly unlock it for use on other carriers.

Baseband
The Baseband controls the interaction between the Phone part of the iPhone and the operating system. Whenever the iPhone needs to talk to cell towers-- whether for voice or data-- it works through the Baseband. The Baseband is responsible for making sure the sim-card is valid and for getting Signal. When you unlock your iPhone the baseband is modified to allow communication to other wireless carriers. The latest baseband version is 04.04.05_G and it corresponds to the 1.1.4 firmware.

Bootloader
There are at least two bootloaders in the iPhone. One is the ARM Core Bootloader and deals with the Operating System, the other is the Baseband Bootloader. Bootloaders make sure that when the iPhone boots it is doing things in the right order, and getting everything done. Currently the iPhone has shipped with two different Baseband Bootloaders (3.9 and 4.6). The 3.9BL allowed us to load a hacked baseband which matches the firmware version. Apple changed this feature in the 4.6 BL and made it require a baseband of a newer firmware version. This is why the Dev Team has released a 3.9 fakeblank BL which allows you to load a hacked baseband matching your firmware version.

DFU Mode
DFU means Device Firmware Update. If a restore using Recovery Mode doesn't work you will want to use DFU Mode as a last resort. When placing your iPhone into DFU Mode it does not load the OS before attempting the restore. Hold the Sleep/Wake and Home buttons for 10 seconds. Just before you would normally see the Apple logo, release the Sleep/Wake button and keep hold the Home button until an iTunes detects an iPhone in recovery mode. NOTE**: This is really tricky to get the timing right it will take a few attempts. If you are in DFU Mode your screen will be black with nothing displayed.

Firmware
The firmware version you have installed on the iPhone is similar to the version of the operating system on your computer. Newer firmware versions usually add new features, fix bugs, and improve stability. iPhones first shipped with 1.0.x firmware. iPhones now are shipping with 1.1.4 and version 1.2 (2.0 Beta) is available to select developers.

Installer.app
Installer.app is a UIKit based package manager for the iPhone. It works by downloading packages over WiFi (wireless networking) or EDGE. It supports installing, updating and uninstalling applications from multiple sources. You will use Installer.app to install a majority of your iPhone applications.

Jailbreak
The process of gaining access to the iPhone's root filesystem, allowing third-party applications to run on the device. In general once you jailbreak you will have Installer.app on your SpringBoard. You can use Installer to install most every application you would need on your iPhone.

OOB or OTB
Used to refer to the firmware version your iPhone came with "Out of the Box". ie. If you have a 1.1.2 OTB iPhone that means your iPhone came with the 1.1.2 firmware preinstalled.

Recovery Mode
If you want to do a clean restore you can put your iPhone into recovery mode to do so. Hold the Sleep/Wake and Home buttons until the iPhone reboots. Once you see the Apple logo, release the Sleep/Wake button and keep hold the Home button until an iTunes logo and the usb cable appear on screen. You can then use iTunes to restore your firmware.

Secpack
A Secpack is similar to a password for the Bootloader. When passed to the bootloader, it authorizes write access to the Baseband.

SDK
SDK is short for Software Development Kit and it's basically a library of software that helps you develop applications and utilities. Apple has just released the iPhone SDK which is the set of tools needed to create applications that run on the iPhone.

Unlock
The process of Unlocking allows your iPhone to use any GSM sim card. Currently Apple has limited the use of the iPhone to a select few wireless carriers. The iPhone must be unlocked before you can use any carrier of your choice.

How to setup your POP3 or IMAP email account on the iPhone.

These are instructions on how to setup your POP3 or IMAP email account on the iPhone.
To perform this tutorial you must have your Email settings. You can obtain these from your Internet Service Provider. You will need to have your username and password as well as incoming and outgoing mailserver addresses.

Step One
Press to select Settings from your SpringBoard.

Step Two
Press to select Mail from the Settings Menu.

Step Three
Press to select Add Account from the Mail Menu.

Step Two
Press to select Other when you are presented with a Welcome to Mail screen.

Step Three
Press to select the type of email account you are trying to setup from the tabs at the top of the screen. In this example I will setup a POP3 email account.

Step Four
You will be asked to enter the information for this email account. Enter your Name, Email Address, and a Description for the account.

Step Five
Scroll down and input the settings for your Incoming Mail Server. Enter your Host Name, User Name and Password.

Step Six
Scroll down to the bottom and input the settings for your Outgoing Mail Server (SMTP). Enter your Host Name, User Name, and Password. Then press the Save button at the top right of the screen.

Step Seven
Mail will then check your mail settings. If it is able to verify the settings you inputed it will add the email account. Now when you press Mail it will take you to your mail account!

Step Eight
To confirm the Advanced settings for your Email you can select Settings from the SpringBoard.

Step Nine
Then select Mail from the Settings Menu.

Step Ten
From the Mail Menu you can set Auto-Check, Shown Messages, Preview length, Font Size, To/CC label, Delete Confirmation, BCC, Signature and Default Account.

Step Eleven
You can also set advanced options for the specific account you just added. It is here that you can turn an email account ON or OFF. From the Mail Menu select the email account you just added

Step Twelve
You can use the Account switch to turn on and off the Email account.

Step Thirteen
Scroll down and press the Advanced button.

Step Fourteen
It is here that you can manage your settings for Deleted Messages, SSL, Authentications, Delete from server and Server Port.

Move the Enabled VideosTone switch to the ON position. Your Springboard will then restart and you will now have a video ringtone when someone calls!

Creating Your Own Video Ringtone
In order to create your own video ringtone the video must be in a format your iPhone can play.

You can upload a 320x480 MP4 H.264 video clip to /var/mobile/Media/VideoTone/Video/ and it will be automatically detected by VideosTone. You can select this video as your default in the VideosTone Settings menu.

Set a Contacts Video Ringtone
The full version of this application must be purchased in order to set a contact's individual video ringtone.

Unforunately, the ability to purchase this application is not yet available!

These are instructions on how to use your iPhone as modem to access the Internet using Windows. This is known as tethering.
The act of tethering your iPhone to gain internet access through your computer may or may not be allowed by your cellular network. Please make sure you check as we cannot be responsible for any charges incurred.

To follow this tutorial you must have a jailbroken iPhone running the 2.0 firmware.

Step One
Press to launch Cydia from your SpringBoard.

(the app that appears when you jailbreak your iphone.)

Step Two
Press to select the Install tab at the bottom of the screen.

Step Three
Press to select Networking from the list of sections.

Step Four
Press to select 3proxy from the list of packages.

Step Five
Press the Install button at the top right of the screen.

Step Six
Press the Confirm button at the top right of the screen.

Step Seven
Once installation has successfully completed press the Close Window button.

Step Eight
Press the Install tab at the bottom of the screen to return to the sections list.

Step Nine
Press to select Terminal Support from the list of sections.

Step Ten
Press to select MobileTerminal from the list of packages.

A popup will appear asking you to select a network. Click Set up a connection or network at the bottom of the window.

Select Set up a wireless ad hoc (computer-to-computer) network and click Next

Click Next to continue

Name your network as desired. I called mine iClarified's Tether. Set security type to No authenicationthen click Next.

Click the Close button.

Step Seventeen
On your iPhone press to select Settings from your Springboard.

Step Eighteen
The press to select Wi-Fi from the Settings Menu.

Step Nineteen
Now press to select the network name you created (iClarified's Tether).

Step Twenty
Now press the Blue Arrow next to the network name you created (iClarified's Tether).

Step Twenty One
Take note of the IP Address that appears. In my case it was 169.254.115.1.

Step Twenty Two
Press the Home button then press to launch Terminal from your Springboard. When Terminal launches type in socks and press the return button.

Step Twenty Three
Now press the Home button and launch Safari from your springboard. Try to load a webpage (ie www.google.com). Notice your iPhone will automatically switch to 3G from wifi once it realizes the adhoc network isn't working

Step Twenty Four
Now on your computer open Firefox and select Options from the Tools Menu.

Select the Advanced tab and then Network subtab. From here click the Settings... button.

Choose Manual proxy configuration and enter the IP Address we wrote down earlier in the SOCKS Host field. Make the associated port 1080 and blank out the rest of the fields then click the OK button.

Step Twenty Five
In your browser address bar navigate to the address about:config. You will notice a Filter field. Type insocks

Step Twenty Six
Double click the line called network.proxy.socks_remote_dns to change its value from false to true. Now exit and restart Firefox.

Step Twenty Seven
And there you go! You should be able to now use your iPhone 2G/3G as a wireless modem for your computer! ie Tether your iPhone.

MORE INFO
You may want to go back into Terminal on your iPhone and hold down the Home key for several seconds to terminate socks.

How to install an iPhone application using Mobile AppStore.

These are instructions on how to install an iPhone application using Mobile AppStore. This example will show you how to install the Facebook directly from your iPhone without using iTunes.

You must be on the iPhone 2.0 firmware to continue.

Step One
Press to launch App Store from your Springboard.

Step Two
You will be presented with featured iPhone applications you can download and install.

Step Three
Notice the tabs along the bottom of the window. You can use these tabs to locate applications of your choice.

Press the Categories tab to browse applications by their respective category.

Press the Top 25 tab to view the top 25 applications either Paid or Free.

Press the Search tab to search for the application of your choice.

Press the Update button search for updates to your currently installed applications.

Step Four
Lets use the Search tab to locate the Facebook application. Enter Facebook into the search field.

Then press to select the application name from the list of results.

Step Five
You will be presented with a description of the application and a screenshot.

Scroll down to view more information and click the Reviews button to see what others think of this application.

Press the Info button at the top left to return to the description.

Step Six
Press the FREE button to obtain this application.

Notice the button now changes to a green INSTALL button. Press this button to install the application.

Step Seven
A popup will appear asking you to enter in your iTunes account password. Do this then press the largeOK button.

Step Eight
You will be returned to your Springboard where you will see a dimmed icon with an install status bar overlaid.

Once installation has finished successfully the icon will become active.

Press the Facebook icon to launch the application.

Step Nine
The next time you connect your iPhone to iTunes it will detect that you have installed a new application. It will ask you if you want to transfer this application to iTunes. Click the Transfer button.

Step Ten
Apple will now ask if you want to transfer them diagnostic information. Click the Don't Send or Send to Apple button.

Step Eleven
Your iPhone will then sync to iTunes. If you select Applications from the menu list on the left you can now see that your application (Facebook) is synced.

How to jailbreak your 2.0.2 x 3G iPhone using WinPwn 2.5 for Windows.

These are instructions on how to jailbreak your 2.0.x 3G iPhone using WinPwn 2.5 for Windows. They have been updated for iPhone firmware 2.0.2.

To follow this tutorial you will need to have iTunes 7.7 installed (make sure to reboot). Also, you may need to download and install .Net Framework if you are on Windows XP. Finally, make sure you completely uninstall any previous version of WinPwn. Thanks to cmw for all his hard work on this!

Step One
Create a folder on your desktop called Pwnage. In it place Winpwn 2.5(mirror) and the latest 2.0 firmware.

2.0.2 (3G): iPhone1,2_2.0.2_5C1_Restore.ipsw

Step Two
Install WinPwn by double clicking the downloaded executable. Once WinPwn has been installed it will put a shortcut icon on your desktop. Double click to launch the application.

Step Three
Once WinPwn has opened click to select the iPhone 3G.

Step Four
You will then be asked to select the firmware you would like to use. Do this then click the green right arrow at the bottom right of the window.

Step Five
WinPwn will then ask if you are using an official carrier. Most likely you will need to click the green thumbs up button.

Step Six
WinPwn will then ask if you would like to use custom boot/recovery images. Click the green thumbs up button if you would like to.

Step Seven
You will now be able to select your custom images. Click the iPhone on the left to select your boot logo. Click the iPhone on the right to select your recovery logo.

Remember the rules for them: RGB or Grayscale format with Alpha channel and dimension bellow 320x480. If you would like to use the iClarified ones they can be found here: Boot Logo, Recovery Logo

Click the green arrow button to continue.

Step Eight
WinPwn will now search for your ipsw firmware file. If it cannot find it you will be asked to search manually. Click the green thumbs up button then navigate to the Pwnage folder on your desktop and select the ipsw you downloaded in Step One.

Step Nine
WinPwn will now build your custom ipsw.

Step Ten
Once your custom ipsw has been built WinPwn will ask you if you want to see instructions on putting your iPhone into DFU Mode. Click the green thumbs up button for yes or the red thumbs down button for no.

Step Eleven
WinPwn will then prompt you to connect your iPhone via USB and make sure its turned off. Do this then click the green thumbs up button.

Step Twelve
WinPwn will then say its ready to start Pwnage. Click the green OK button.

Step Thirteen
Be ready to follow directions now. It will ask you to hold the home button and the power button for 10 seconds. Then, you will have to release the power button and hold the home button for 10 seconds to enter DFU.

Step Fourteen
Once you iPhone is in DFU mode WinPwn will begin the pwnage process.

You will be informed when pwnage is complete.

Notice that your iPhone will display a "Ready to restore Custom IPSW" message.

Step Fifteen
iTunes will now prompt you that you are in recovery mode.

Hold down Shift and click the Restore button in iTunes.

A popup window will appear asking you to select your firmware. Select the Custom firmware file we created using WinPwn then click the Open button. NOTE**: WinPwn placed the Custom firmware file in the "My Documents" folder.

Your iPhone will now be restored to the jailbroken 2.0.x firmware of your choice!

These are instructions on how to change your iPhone Boot Logo without reinstalling the firmware.

To follow this tutorial you must have a 2.0.1 jailbroken iPhone or higher.

Step One
Launch Cydia by pressing its icon on your Springboard.

(the app that normally comes when you first jailbreak)

Step Two
Press to select the Sections tab at the bottom of the screen.

Step Three
Press to select System from the list of Sections

Step Four
Press to select LogoMe from the list of Packages

Step Five
Press the Install button at the top right of the screen

Step Six
Press the Confirm button at the top right of the screen.

Step Seven
Once the installation has completed successfully click the large Return to Cydia button.

Step Eight
Press the Home button to return to your Springboard. Notice the new LogoMe icon. Press to launch the application.

Step Nine
When LogoMe first opens it will need an Internet connection to download some required files. Once the files have been downloaded press the Select Logo tab at the bottom of the screen.

Step Ten
To use a different logo you can enter its url here.

Step Eleven
Press the Download button to download the specified Boot Logo to LogoMe. Once it has finished you can press to select the Install Logo tab at the bottom of the screen.

Step Twelve
Use the Preview button to preview your downloaded Boot Logo and make sure it looks okay.

Step Thirteen
Press the Install button to install your specified Boot Logo onto your iPhone. The next time you boot you will see your new Boot Logo in place of the previous one!

These are instructions on how to jailbreak your 3G iPhone to the 2.1-2.2 iPhone firmware using QuickPwn for Windows. Before beginning make sure you have updated to iTunes 8.0.2.

Important***: Do not attempt these instructions for the 2.2 iPhone Firmware unless you don't care about a software unlock in the future. Using QuickPwn with the 2.2 iPhone Firmware could reduce your chances of being able to unlock the iPhone 3G.

Step One
Create a folder called Pwnage on your desktop.

Download the following files and place them in the Pwnage folder you just created:
- QuickPwn 2.2
- 2.2.0 (3G): iPhone1,2_2.2_5G77_Restore.ipsw

Extract the QuickPwn22.zip file to the Pwnage folder.

Step Two
Connect your iPhone to the computer and launch iTunes.

Select your iPhone from the list of devices on the left. Now hold down shift and click the Restorebutton. Restore is preferred as it won't create any wasted space on your iPhone.

Navigate to the Pwnage folder on your desktop and select the 2.2 firmware ipsw. Click the Open button to continue.

Step Three
Once iTunes has finished updating your iPhone to the 2.2 firmware you may launch QuickPwn.exe from the Pwnage folder on your desktop.

Step Four
Make sure you iPhone is connected to the computer and click the blue arrow to continue.

(make sure you closed itunes fully)

Step Five
Click the Browse button to locate your iPhone firmware.

Step Six
Select the 2.2 firmware ipsw from the Pwnage folder on your desktop then click the Open button.

Step Seven
QuickPwn will check to make sure the ipsw is valid. Click the blue arrow button to continue.

Step Eight
You can now select whether to Add Cydia, Add Installer, or Replace Boot Logos. Select the ones you would like to perform then click the clue arrow button

(adding cydia is a must)

Step Nine
QuickPwn will now ask you to confirm your iPhone is connected via USB before continuing. Click the blue arrow button to proceed.

Step Ten
QuickPwn will now automatically put your iPhone into recovery mode. Once its in recovery mode you will be prompted to: Hold the Home button for 5 seconds, Hold the Home and Power buttons for 10 seconds, then release the Power button and continuing holding the Home button until your iPhone is in DFU mode.

Watch the prompts carefully and follow along.

Step Eleven
Once QuickPwn detects your iPhone in DFU mode it will begin the jailbreak process.

Step Twelve
Once jailbreaking is complete QuickPwn will inform you that it was successfull.

These are instructions on how to unlock/jailbreak your 2G iPhone to the 2.2 iPhone firmware using QuickPwn for Windows. Before beginning make sure you have updated to iTunes 8.0.2.

Step One
Create a folder called Pwnage on your desktop.

Download the following files and place them in the Pwnage folder you just created:
- QuickPwn 2.2
- BL 3.9 (only if unlocking)
- BL 4.6 (only if unlocking)

Step Ten
QuickPwn will now ask you to confirm your iPhone is connected via USB before continuing. Click the blue arrow button to proceed.

Step Eleven
QuickPwn will now automatically put your iPhone into recovery mode. Once its in recovery mode you will be prompted to: Hold the Home button for 5 seconds, Hold the Home and Power buttons for 10 seconds, then release the Power button and continuing holding the Home button until your iPhone is in DFU mode.

Watch the prompts carefully and follow along.

Step Twelve
Once QuickPwn detects your iPhone in DFU mode it will begin the jailbreak process.

Step Thirteen

Step One
Press to launch the Cydia Installer from your SpringBoard. (the app that normmally comes when you jailbreak your iPhone)

Step Two
Press to select Sections from the tabs at the bottom of the screen.

Press to choose Tweaks from the list of Sections.

Step Four
Press to select Emoji from the list of Packages.

How to make your iPhone's speakers louder.

These are instructions on how to increase the volume on your 2.0.1 iPhone using the iClarified Cydia source. Remember your iPhone speaker isn't very powerful so it will only be a slight improvement but its better then before :) Also note that those in regions with restricted volume levels will see alot more of a difference!

Step One
Make sure you have iClarified added as a cydia source. See my other pages.

Step Two
Press to launch Cydia from your Springboard.

Step Three
Press to select the Sections tab at the bottom of the screen.

Step Four
Press to select iClarified from the list of Sections.

Step Five
Press to select Volume Boost (2.0.1) from the list of Packages. (or 2.1 depeinding what your running on)

Step Six
Press the Install button at the top right hand corner of the screen.

Step Seven
Press the Confirm button at the top right of the screen.

Step Eight
Once installation has completed press the Return to Cydia button at the bottom of the screen.

Step Nine
You will be returned to the Package details page. Hold down the Sleep/Wake button for 3 seconds to bring up the Power slider. Slide it to the right to turn off your iPhone. Then push the Sleep/Wake button again to turn back on the phone!

You should now notice a increase in volume. might not be much but there will still be a increase.

These are step by step instructions on how to add the iClarified source to Cydia.

Step One
Press to select Cydia from your Springboard.

Press to select Manage from the tabs at the bottom of the screen.

Step Three
Press to select Sources from the menu that appears.

(i find that this button takes a few times to work out that your pressed it)

Step Four
Press the Edit button at the top right of the screen.

Press the Add button that appears at the top left of the screen.

Step Six
Enter http://cydia.iClarified.com (if you do not have this sorce i would HIGHLY recommened adding it next) as the source address then press the large Add Source button.

Step Seven
One the source has been added press the large Return to Cydia button at the bottom of the screen.

Step Eight
Press the Done button at the top right of the screen.

Step Nine
Notice the iClarified source appears in the list of sources. Press it to view the packages currently available!

How to put apps into Folders.

These are instructions on how to organize the iPhone applications on your Springboard into folders using Categories.

To follow this tutorial you must be on the iPhone firmware 2.0 or higher. You also need to have a jailbroken iPhone.

Step One
Press to launch Cydia from your Springboard.

(the app that normallt comes when you jail break)

Step Two
Press to select the Sections tab at the bottom of the screen.

Step Three
Press to select the System section.

Step Four
Press to select Categories from the list of Packages that appear.

Step Five
Press to select theInstall button at the top right of the screen.

Step Six
Press to select the Confirm button at the top right of the screen.

Step Seven
Once Cydia has installed the Categories application press the Return to Cydia button at the bottom of the screen.

Step Eight
Press the Home button to return to your Springboard. Notice the new Categories application. Press to launch it!

Step Nine
Read the warning that appears then press the large OK button.

Step Ten
You will be taken to blank list of Categories. It is here where we will create folders for our Springboard. Press the Add button at the top right of the screen.

Step Eleven
Enter the name for the Category/Folder you would like to create and press the Add button. I created a folder called Games.

Step Twelve
You will be asked to select an icon for the folder/category you just created.

Step Thirteen
Notice your newly created folder appears in the list now! Press to select it.

Step Fourteen
You now are taken to the Edit menu where you can edit the applications that appear in the Category. Since we have not added any applications to the folder it is blank. Press the Add button at the top right of the screen.

Step Fifteen
You will be shown a list of the applications on your iPhone. Press to select the ones you would like added to the Category then press the Edit button at the top left of the screen.

Step Sixteen
You will be returned to the Edit menu where you can now order and remove applications from the Category. Press the button at the top left to return to the Categories List.

Step Seventeen
Notice it now shows how many applications we have in our folder.

Step Eighteen
Press the Home button. Notice that we now have a new icon for our newly created Category. Also notice that applications we moved into this category are not visible on the Springboard. Press to select the icon for your newly created Category.

Step Nineteen
You will now be shown a list of your applications in the selected Category. Press to launch one!

Step Twenty
If you press the little i at the bottom of the Category you will see some basic options as described by BigBoss.

Folder Title: Displays folder title on main screen.

Save Image On Exit: Saves the current background image when an app is loaded. Leave this on unless there are unusually long delays loading each app.

Icon Labels: You can disable the text labels with this so you see only the icon pictures

Black Background: If you dislike seeing the desktop background from winterboard, you can force a black background with this.

Now you dont have all thoses apps cloggin your page.

To put the iPhone into DFU mode so you can do an iTunes firmware restore follow these steps:

It may take a few attempts to get your iPhone into DFU mode. Generally, I hold down both buttons then release the Home button just before I think the Apple logo would appear. If you are still holding both buttons down and you see the Apple logo you are holding them down for too long!

Free iPhone Ringtone's

One of the things that Apple hasn’t made easy for iPhone owners is providing a way to create custom ringtones in Windows. If you’re a Mac owner you can use GarageBand, but Apple doesn’t provide that application on Windows. Instead what they expect you to do is purchase a song for $0.99, and then convert it to a ringtone for another $0.99.

As it turns out in a few steps you can actually convert a DRM-free song into a ringtone using only iTunes in Windows. The trick also works for Mac users, but using GarageBand is a lot simpler so we’re focusing primarily on the Windows side.

Here’s what you need to do:

Start iTunes and find the [DRM-free] song you want to convert to a ringtone. Right-click on it and select the Get Info option.

On the Options tab locate the Start Time and End Time options. This is where you want to specify the portion of the song you wanted converted into a ringtone. Check both of the boxes, and make sure your ringtone is under 30-seconds. Press OK when finished.

Right-click on the song you just modified, and choose the Convert to AAC option. If you don’t see this in the context menu navigate to Edit -> Preferences -> Advanced -> Importing, and make sure the AAC Encoder is selected in the Import Using menu.

Once the song has finished being converted to the new format it will appear in your music list, and the “Time” should reflect the correct duration of the ringtone (which should be less than 30-seconds). Now navigate to your iTunes music folder to find the converted song. Here’s an example of where my Green Day ringtone was located:

Make sure you’re able to see the file’s extension (.M4A) like in the screenshot above. If you don’t see the extension go to Tools -> Folder Options -> View (Organize -> Folder and Search Options on Vista), and uncheck the Hide extensions for known file types box. Then click OK.

Copy the music file (with the .M4A extension) to your desktop. Once you’ve done that rename the file’s extension to .M4R which will make iTunes recognize it as a ringtone. Make sure there are no symbols (underscores, hyphens, etc…) in the file name.

In iTunes go to File -> Add File to Library, and then browse for the file from step 6. Once you’ve selected it press the Open button. iTunes will place the ringtone in the respective section in your library:

Sync your iPhone with iTunes and your newly created ringtone should get transferred over. If it doesn’t be sure to check the Ringtones tab in the iPhone configuration section of iTunes to verify that it is setup to sync your ringtones.

One note, if your contect menu does not have “convert selection to AAC”, you need to change your itunes preferences > advanced > import > import using > AAC encoder.
